What this app stores
- Your shop domain and the access token Shopify issues at install, so the app can talk to your store.
- Your settings: the fallback language, and whether you have completed setup.
- A log of the storefront checks you run: the URL checked, the time, whether the notice was found and in which language. You can see this under Check history.
What this app never stores
No customer data of any kind. The app does not request access to orders, customers or checkout, so it cannot read who bought what, names, addresses, emails or payment details. The three product values used by the GARAN label are stored on your products in Shopify as metafields, which belong to you and stay with you if the app is removed.
Fetching your storefront
When you press "Check my storefront" the app requests your public shop page the way any visitor's browser would, and looks in the returned HTML for the notice. It identifies itself as EU-Guarantee-Notice-Checker in the request. No page is fetched unless you ask for a check.
Deletion
Uninstalling clears your session immediately. Shopify then sends a shop redaction request 48 hours later, at which point your settings and your entire check history are deleted. If you want to keep the check history as evidence, export or screenshot it before you uninstall.
Sub-processors
The app runs on a single server in the European Union rented from Hetzner. No analytics, advertising or tracking services are embedded in the app or in the storefront code it adds.
The artwork
The notice and the GARAN label shipped with this app are the European Commission's own published files, used unaltered as Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1960 requires. This app is not affiliated with or endorsed by the European Commission, and it does not provide legal advice.
